British menswear company Ben Sherman is rebuilding its global ecommerce sites as it looks to strengthen its online presence. The business expects to relaunch its UK and European sites towards the end of this year while a US site will launch in the new year.

the OTHER media has been appointed to design and build the sites for a brand that was originally launched by Arthur Benjamin Sugarman in the 60s and was bought by Oxford Industries in 2004. A Savile Row, Mayfair, store opened last year. The new sites will feature a new-look Ben Sherman brand.

Pan Philippou, chief executive of Ben Sherman, said: “Ben Sherman is a strong brand and we felt it was time it had a suitably strong presence online.” He added: “We look forward to a fruitful and enduring working relationship with the agency.”

George Crabb, managing director of the OTHER media, said: “The company told us it was not happy with its old site and this was actually turned off earlier this year. We were approached after they had been looking for a new digital partner for some time and, having been recommended by several parties, we won the work in a competitive pitch based on our proven approach and design credentials.”

The agency now works with fashion clients including Paul Smith, Jasper Conran and The Rug Company, which sells rugs from designers including Vivienne Westwood and Diane von Furstenberg.

Crabb said: “Fashion and retail has emerged as one of the main pillars of our business. In such tough times none of the fashion houses can ignore the significance of a good online presence. We have tailored our projects with fashion partners accordingly. Some require a major rethink of their websites while others see that they must embrace ecommerce opportunities more efficiently.”
