InternetRetailing Research brings you regular updates that name the IRUK Top100 websites that are managing peak traffic most effectively over the Black Friday weekend.

This weekend InternetRetailing Research, in collaboration with our knowledge partner NCC Group [IRDX VNCC], is testing, on an hourly basis, the Top100 websites’ Speed Index on both mobile and desktop devices.

There’s more information at the bottom of this post on how we calculate these figures but, in a nutshell, the websites we’re listing here are the best performers today in the Top100 where ‘best performance’ is relative to each website’s performance on a normal weekend.

Top Retailers: 4pm to 8pm – mobile device

The best mobile website experience relative to each website’s normal weekend performance was delivered by Office, Boohoo.com, and Zara over the four-hour period. French Connection, MajesticWine, Monsoon, Joules, Debenhams, Dunelm, and Footasylum round out the top 10 mobile sites by this measure.

Top Retailers: 4pm to 8pm – desktop device

The best desktop website experience relative to each website’s normal weekend performance was delivered by Boohoo.com, Zara, and Office over the four-hour period. Mothercare, Jack Wills, Thorntons, The Works, French Connection, Homebase, and JD Sports round out the top 10 desktop sites by this measure.

Benchmark

Three weeks ago, on a more normal weekend for ecommerce, we conducted hourly tracking of the Top100 websites to record a benchmark. Today’s hourly tests are each compared to the relevant benchmark. We then average each website’s hourly variance from its benchmark to find the top lists over the given time periods described above.

You can find more information on Speed Index, the specific metric we use to calculate these performance figures.
