B&Q adds range of refurbished tools to diy.com

InternetRetailing

B&Q is expanding the way its customers can use and purchase tools – offering secondhand tools as part of its Refurbed by B&Q range, as well as expanding its tool hire service for customers not wanting to commit to a tool purchase.

The introduction of a refurbed tool offering is part of B&Q’s commitment to help customers make sustainable choices, by reducing waste. The UK Top100 retailer also aims to make these environmentally friendly purchases both easy and convenient.

The Refurbed by B&Q is a select range of professionally refurbished tools that will be sold at a discounted price on diy.com. The tools are sourced from customer returns, which are then processed by B&Q technicians to ensure they meet ‘like new’ standards.

The products are safely examined, checked, and cleaned before they’re put up for sale again. All products are graded, PAT and function tested, component checked and thoroughly cleaned.

If customers are not ready to purchase a tool, then they are able to use B&Q’s tool hire service which now offers customers access to over 100 products to hire for a range of projects. Customers can order in store or online and get their hired product in as little as 24 hours.

These services seek to promote resource efficiency and minimise waste by designing products and systems with recycling and sustainability in mind.

B&Q category director (building) Steve Lodge, said: “At B&Q, we want to make it easier for our customers to complete their projects and help them make decisions they can feel good about – whether it be through affordable prices or minimising waste.

“The new Refurbed by B&Q range allows us to give new life to something that would otherwise be discarded, and our expanded Tool Hire service offers a great and trustworthy choice for consumers.”
