Boots is launching its biggest members-only event yet as it marks the 25th anniversary of its Advantage Card.

The retailer, ranked Elite in RXUK Top500 research, is running an eight-week event from now until the end of September offering exclusive deals and events to its 15m active Advantage Card holders. Boots says that more than 50,000 of its members have been regular users since the scheme was first launched in 1997.

The event comes soon after Boots launched Price Advantage to give card holders discounted prices.

Hollie McLellan, director of customer marketing at Boots, says: “The Boots Advantage Card is universally loved by our customers and has a special place in their hearts, so it was important to us that they get to celebrate this milestone birthday with us. Our new campaign, ‘Our birthday, your rewards’ has been created to offer our best ever event for Boots Advantage Card holders, with amazing deals and promotions running over an eight-week period. There’s never been a better time to have a Boots Advantage Card, so if you don’t have one yet, be sure to sign up now and download the Boots app to make sure you don’t miss out.”

Boots says December 21 is the most popular day for shoppers to redeem Advantage Card points, which are most often spent on toiletries and nutrition – including the Boots Meal Deal. This year, shoppers have collected the most points buying skincare products.

During the eight weeks, card holders will be able to take part in exclusive competitions, benefit from discounts and buy new birthday offers will be released each week. Timed Advantage Card points countdown deals will start on August 4, when shoppers buying at 11am will be able to collect four times the usual points counting down through the day to double points until 11pm. The scheme normally offers four points for every pound spent.

The Boots event follows a trend of encouraging customer loyalty by offering exclusive discounts, prices and content in dedicated events. Amazon’s Prime Day events are the most high profile to date, however, with an eight-week run the Boots event is set to last for longer.
