Boots is trialling deliveries in as little as 20 minutes via Deliveroo as its online orders grow quickly.

Shoppers can order from a range of 400 products on demand from Boots for delivery in a trial initially based in 14 pilot stores, including in Leeds, Liverpool, London, Edinburgh and Nottingham.

The range includes medicines for minor ailments as well as toiletries, such as tampons, deodorant and body lotion, beauty products and baby essentials. Food and drink is also available for delivery, including sandwiches, snacks and drinks.

Paula Bobbett, director of boots.com at Boots UK, said: “We are very excited about this new partnership with Deliveroo and have carefully selected over 400 products for its launch to help our customers get the things they need, when they need them. It will be super handy for times when you need something urgently but can’t leave the house, like if you’re feeling unwell or are looking after your kids. Our online business continues to grow and this partnership offers our customers a way to access our products quickly and easily.”

The launch comes at a time when Boots’ online sales have risen quickly. Sales via its website were 85% up in the year to March 1 2021, compared to the previous year and Boots says that they are continuing to grow quickly. Its services already include next day click and collect and home delivery.

Carlo Mocci, chief business officer UKI at Deliveroo, says: “We are delighted to announce a new partnership with Boots in 14 stores across the country. Boots is the UK’s leading health and beauty retailer and the top consumer choice for high-quality and popular products. This partnership will mean more choice and selection for our consumers, delivered in as little as 20 minutes, and will create more work for riders across the UK.”

Over the last year Deliveroo has moved beyond its origins in takeaway deliveries to deliver for a range of retailers, from supermarkets including Morrisons and Aldi to pharmacies including Lloyds Pharmacy and, now, Boots.

It has also been delivering to campsites in areas from London and Manchester to Eastbourne and Exmouth over a summer of staycations, from supermarkets including Sainsbury’s, Co-op, Waitrose, Aldi and Morrisons. In order the use the service, campers campers order via the Deliveroo app and drop a delivery pin as close as possible to their temporary home location. They can also designate a specific meeting point, such as an entrance or exit to a campsite, in the ’Instructions for your rider’ section when adding the address to their account.
