Editorial: Why right first-time delivery is crucial

DeliveryX

With exactly a week until eDelivery Expo (EDX) and Internet Retailing Expo (IRX) arrives at Birmingham’s NEC, we bring you some exclusive interviews with some of the speakers and panellists at the event in the newsletter this week.
With great speakers, interesting sessions and the latest views and predictions around delivery, fulfilment, returns, click and collect and operations make sure you have secured your place at the show.

One of the panellists predicting the future at EDX will be Samantha James, logistics development manager at Screwfix. Although delivery is important to all customers for the company’s trade customer base it’s more important than ever – since if they are let down by delivery they have to let their own customers down. That added pressure means that for Screwfix a ‘right first time’ approach is crucial to success.

Another speaker at the show is Everything5pounds.com chief operating officer Robert Kulawik. With such low prices delivery costs have to be managed carefully. In this pre-EDX interview we find out a little more about his business model and how the company makes delivery work for them.

For those companies where the supply chain and delivery isn’t working so well it may be time to reconsider the choice of logistics partner. In an opinion piece this week William Walker of Walker Logistics reveals how to ensure you pick the right one.

Ensuring it can offer as good a service as it can is DPD which has announced a £150 million investment into its fifth hub in the UK, less than three years after its two most recent hub openings.

And in technology Bringg has announced a new module for its platform that it claims can significantly improve on-time delivery times as well as dispatcher workloads.

See you at EDX!
