UK delivery management specialist MetaPack has appointed heavyweight retailer Bob Willett, formerly chief executive of Best Buy International , as its chairman. The new hire comes as MetaPack continues to move towards its aim of expanding both in the UK and around the world.

Like former Tesco boss Sir Terry Leahy, who invested in the company in May, Willett brings international experience. His roles prior to retirement also included group chief executive of Al-Futtaim, and his expertise lies in developing strategies for international multichannel growth, as well as transforming information technology and the supply chain.

Willet said: “My time at Best Buy and Accenture has taught me the power and benefit of looking at every process through the lens of the customer and maximizing this experience wherever possible.

“MetaPack plays a vital part in delivering that superior customer experience, enabled by its unique technology through to the last mile.”

Patrick Wall, founder and chief executive of MetaPack, said: “Retailers understand the critical importance of effective and timely delivery, as evidenced by our customer base and key industry figures. Bob Willett is an invaluable addition to our board as we strive to become the preferred delivery solution in the UK and develop into a truly global platform.”

MetaPack was founded in 1999. Its delivery management systems identify the best way for each parcel to be delivered, and it is currently used by retailers including John Lewis , M&S , Debenhams , Asos , Mothercare and Aurora .
