How we shop online in 2014

This is an archived article - we have removed images and other assets but have left the text unchanged for your reference

In today’s InternetRetailing newsletter, there’s evidence of the inexorable shift to shopping online. Figures out from the ONS this week show how some 74% of UK adults have shopped online this year. More of us have internet access, and more of us are accessing the internet via mobile devices. That’s a fact that’s reflected in figures from the IMRG and Capgemini this week, showing how quickly m-commerce is growing, especially for multichannel retailers.

Tui Travel also shows that more of us are booking our holidays online this year: more than half its UK bookings were made over the internet for summer 2014. Small wonder than more retailers are responding accordingly – we have news of baby equipment brand Stokke as it expands into international markets online.

Today’s guest comment is from Craig Sears-Black of Manhattan Associates, who considers how to make multichannel both personal and profitable. Finally, we also report on the formal creation of Dixons Carphoner/a>, whose launch came with the opening of their first seven combined shops.
