At Internet Retailing 2009 conference delegates will hear how Harvey Nichols has successfully forged a unified fulfilment operation across its channels — and how it met and worked around the challenges thrown up by individual channels.
Rob will talk about how online orders are fulfilled from both the warehouse and the stores to leverage existing stock holding without the need to buy for the internet channel, and how products can be sold online but kept in store for maximum visibility and minimum stock holding.
Delegates will learn what measures were taken to bring the retailer to a point where up to half of orders are being fulfilled from stores in any week, 'out of stocks' for internet orders have been reduced and sell through has improved, leading to less markdowns.
Rob Jones took Harvey Nichols into online retailing in 2003 with the launch of a Christmas food and drink website. This grew into a fully fledged online shop by 2007 and now Rob is the retailer's ecommerce manager with responsibility for Harvey Nichols' online operation and future digital strategy.• Internet Retailing 2009 takes place on Tuesday 13 October at the Novotel in Hammersmith, west London. The full conference agenda, along with speaker profiles, is now available online. Conference delegate and exhibition visitor registration is also now open.
