French beauty retailer Yves Rocher says it will stop selling to UK customers next month, blaming the “economic context”.

Customers must place last orders before 14 March as the brand embarks on a clearance sale, which includes free gifts when the customer spends over £43. Free delivery is also available on orders of over £29.

The company gave no further detail on its reasons for leaving the market, leaving it open to speculation whether the UK’s exit from the European Union or other factors might have impacted the decision.

According to RetailX knowledge partner SimilarWeb, the company nets 153 million page views worldwide per annum, with around half of these coming from within the European Economic Area and around 18% coming from France.

However, the UK is responsible for only around 0.5% of this overall figure.

The company does not break down country by country figures, but netted €2.5 billion in revenues in 2017.

Recent months have seen other European brands pulling out of the UK market. Sephora, for example, closed down its UK site towards the end of last year due to insufficient traffic.
