Fruugo wins investment from retail veteran as it prepares for further international expansion
has won investment from backers including former M&S chairman Lord Stuart Rose as it prepares for further international expansion.
The online marketplace has secured £1.4m in total, including a "significant" sum from Lord Rose.
The investment announcement comes as Fruugo, which enables customers around the world to shop in their own language and using their own currency, launched an open-source Magento plug-in and announced it would be expanding its sales further around the world in coming weeks.
Dominic Allonby, founder and chief executive of Fruugo, said: “With today’s launch of Fruugo’s Magento plug-in over a quarter of all online retailers can now effortlessly localise their products across the globe, via Fruugo. This enables consumers everywhere to discover the world’s products at the click of a button.
"We already have three million products available for sale across 23 countries, and with 10 more countries launching in the next six weeks we expect that number to rise dramatically.”
