M&S has leased a new warehouse in Milton Keynes to serve its food operations.
The retailer has taken on a 10-year lease of the site, which has recently been refurbished by owner Logicor.
Called MK360, the site is sized at 360,214 square feet, with 12m clear eaves height and a 55m deep yard.
Anthony McCluskie, director of asset management at Logicor, said: “Marks and Spencer is a new customer to our portfolio and we have enjoyed working with them to find the right building to suit their needs and to be involved with their changing supply chain strategy.”
The company is set to become the supplier to Ocado’s online grocery business from 1 September, replacing Waitrose. The company invested £750 million to take a 50% share in Ocado Food last year.
The retailer revealed in recent financial results that food revenues had fallen 8.8% in the six weeks to 9 May due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, revenues rose 2.1% in the year overall to 28 March.
M&S is assuming a sales hit of £2.1bn over the next year across clothing, home, food and international sales.
