Online shopping domains come up for auction

Retail domain names from MyShopping.com to OnlineDeals.net could inspire a tug of war as retailers battle to outbid each other when they come up for auction next week.

The auction, to be held by online domain marketplace Sedo, gives retailers and domain investors the chance to bid for retail-related domains that are likely to attract high levels of interest.

Other names up for sale in the week-long auction that starts at 5pm BST on June 3, are AbMachines.com, bling.co.uk and DanceSlippers.com.

Jeremiah Johnston, chief operating officer of Sedo, said: “Owning the ideal descriptive domain name – or a portfolio of these domains – is an easy and cost-effective way to boost marketing efforts.”

Sedo, which stands for Search Engine for Domain Offers boasts has 16m domain names listed on its database, thought to be the world’s largest. As well as holding auctions the company also offers the chance to buy immediately names including KidsRetail.com and OnlineShoppingGuide.com.
