AO is this week opening its largest warehouse yet in Stoke-on-Trent, creating 120 new jobs.
The 275,00 sq ft warehouse is AO’s third new distribution warehouse in four months as it responds to both an uplift in customer demand and the need for more space to enable warehouse staff to work safely and at a social distance during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The new site means 120 new jobs, while AO is also launching a national recruitment drive for more than 650 members of staff. It will be used primarily for distribution to AO’s local hubs around the UK, but there are also plans for it to include a delivery depot to serve customers who are local to the Staffordshire site.
David Ashwell, managing director of AO Logistics, said: “Expanding our logistics network is a crucial step in our growth strategy, so we can continue to serve customers when they need us the most. We’ve really had to act quickly to adapt to an influx in customers following the Covid-19 lockdown. By actively securing more warehousing space and creating hundreds of new, quality jobs in the process, we’re working hard to invest in the future.

Our team have continued to adapt to necessary changes and they are taking the swift expansion in their stride. With our latest distribution sites in Stoke-on-Trent and Stafford, we’ve now established a strong logistics hub in the North West.”
The site uses rainwater harvesting to reduce water usage and enhanced skylights the make the most of natural light.
Two-person delivery company AO Logistics was acquired by AO in 2009; it then traded under the name Expert Logistics. Now it offers next-day delivery seven days a week on a range of 12,000 electrical products.
