Royal Mail to move to Sunday parcel delivery with new retailer trial

DeliveryX

Royal Mail is to launch Sunday parcel delivery in a trial with a number of retailers over the next few weeks. Discussions are also underway with further retailers to expand the service.
The company says the move is in response to an increased demand for Sunday deliveries and to accommodate the continued growth in online shopping. In third quarter to the end of December Royal Mail delivered almost half a billion parcels.

“The last year has reset so many customer expectations and the desire for even more convenient and even more frequent parcel deliveries has certainly been one of them,” said Nick Landon, chief commercial officer at Royal Mail. “We always listen to our customers, both senders and recipients, and the ask here was clear: we love what you do Monday to Saturday, so please do the same on a Sunday. So that’s what we’re doing, as quickly as possible so we can offer it to more and more customers across the course of this year.”
