Screwfix has opened its newest store format Screwfix City in London, designed to offer greater convenience to tradespeople in the UK capital.
Screwfix City stores are based in high footfall areas and offer a range of more than 3,000 products, a Click and Collect service and a further 31,000 products available online for next day collection.
Following initial tests of the ultra-compact stores, Screwfix has recently opened a further six City stores across London. It plans to have up to 20 in total by the end of 2024, including the first stores in cities outside of London, and aims to open up to 100 over the next few years.
“Our Screwfix City stores are enabling us to go even further to meet the needs of our customers,” explained Max Britten, Screwfix UK and ROI managing director.
“We know how busy our customers are, and we understand the challenges they face in cities, such as getting a parking space on the job or having to down tools for an emergency product only to spend time stuck in traffic.
“With our Screwfix City stores, we’ve been able to launch an exciting new format that works in different locations to our traditional stores. We’re planning to open up to 100 over the next few years in London and other cities, providing our customers with the ultimate convenience that keeps them on the job and earning.”
The RetailX UK Top500 2024 report features an exclusive interview with Sue Harries, digital, proposition and data director at Screwfix. It covers how the Elite retailer puts the customer firmly at the centre of its strategy – and what that means in practice.
“Time is money,” for Screwfix customers, says Harries. That is perhaps never truer than when the customer has a prized parking space outside a client’s house in London and does not want to lose the space by driving to pick up supplies.
