Seasalt enters resale market with Reskinned


Cornish-based fashion brand Seasalt has partnered with repair and resale provider Reskinned, as it works to limit items of clothing going to landfill.

Following the rolling out a take-back scheme six weeks ago, Seasalt will enable its customers to trade in pre-loved pieces and buy second-hand or repaired items through Reskinned’s platform.

Seasalt reported receiving over 2,000 items in those first six weeks, making Seasalt the 12th most requested brand for resale on Reskinned. The new resale offering will launch on Sunday 02 April.

Paul Hayes, CEO at Seasalt, said: “We’ve been overwhelmed by the incredible response from customers getting involved in the take back initiative and are delighted to be able to launch the resale service so quickly.

“It’s so important to us, as a business, to do what we can to encourage circularity in our industry and the success to date is testimony to the quality of our Seasalt product.”

Retailers including Joules, Finisterre, Sweaty Beaty and River Island have already teamed up with Reskinned to offer curated pre-loved drops.

“At Reskinned, we’re opening up the pre-loved market to new shoppers. Customers love what we do and our drop models work, with products generally selling through within three days and a returns rate that is significantly below industry norms,” added Matt Hanrahan, co-founder at Reskinned.

According to recently published research, retailers are introducing more sustainable ways to buy and sell products and services, with a third of retailers (32%) reporting that the rapid expansion of recommerce has been driven by the growth in environmental awareness and the impact of the rising cost of living on consumer spending behaviour. Close to four in 10 said they have introduced more sustainable ways to shop to provide customers with more affordable options, with 44% doing so to reduce their own impact on the environment.
