Danish homeware retailer Søstrene Grene is increasing its European footprint, with plans to open stores in Italy and Poland next year and reach 500 stores by 2027.
As part of this wider strategy, Søstrene Grene is planning to double its UK footprint by 2027, targeting 100 stores nationwide.
The homeware brand has three new UK store openings confirmed for this summer – Canary Wharf, Harrogate and Stirling. This follows the brand’s Oxford Circus flagship opening in March, which is its fifth London location. The first opened on Tottenham Court Road in December 2023.
Søstrene Grene is also planning to open a webstore in Spain, where it previously had brick-and-mortar locations, as well as in Finland.
Furthermore, the brand has recently invested in a new 45,000 square metre logistics centre in the Netherlands.
These expansion plans and infrastructure investments come after strong trading across European, with the company reporting a 15% rise in pre-tax profits to £24mn for 2024.
Mikkel Grene, chief executive officer, Søstrene Grene, said: “Despite ongoing economic headwinds, we continue to see strong footfall and engagement across our stores.
“We believe in the long-term relevance of physical retail — especially when it offers discovery, inspiration and emotional connection.”
Søstrene Grene’s expansion plans are also covered in the Global Homeware 2025 report, as it is one of many homeware and fashion retailers growing in this sector.
If fact, the global homeware market is predicted to reach $145bn this year, as consumers make the most of their living spaces. Improving economic conditions and smart home technologies have also provided a boost to this market. Learn more here.
