Tesco has added 102 new click and collect sites during its 2021 financial year, as well as launching its Tesco Whoosh rapid delivery service as it continues to improve its delivery and collection offer.
The Tesco Whoosh delivery service, which offers customers more than 1,700 products to choose from and is already available in more than 200 stores, will roll out to 600 stores this year. The company is also trialling superfast delivery with a Gorillas pilot which operates from the company’s Thornton Heath store and was revealed in October.
Tesco now operates four urban fulfilment centres. Three of the centres opened this year, including Lakeside in the first half and Bradford and Horwich in the second half. A fifth UFC is expected to open next month in Rutherglen. Speaking at its preliminary results this week Tesco company said that pick rates for the UFCs were around four times higher than store-based picking.
