Walker Logistics has announced the opening of two new units dedicated to customer re-work operations.
Based in Berkshire the 10,000 sq ft self-contained facilities will offer services such as kitting, relabelling and quality control in addition to traditional storage, pick, pack and despatch solutions.
William Walker, sales director of Walker Logistics, said that rework was a growing part of the company’s business. “We already undertake a broad range of value-added services and our investment in these new specialist centres will enable us to further improve on-site operational efficiency,” he said.
“Our new re-work centres provide our clients with the ability to outsource tasks such as light assembly work, pack configuration and other activities flexibly, quickly and cost-effectively. It is not uncommon for companies to use a warehousing company to store their goods and another firm to undertake ‘kitting’ tasks, but finding a partner that can do everything is far more efficient since using a full service supplier reduces double handling and, therefore, saves costs,” he said.
