Whistl Fulfilment expands depot space, hires Fedex veteran

Whistl Fulfilment is broadening the range of goods it can handle and expanding its depot space as it celebrates a year since launch.
The division of delivery company Whistl plans to extend its Rushton depot with a further 60,000 square feet of operational space. It said this would allow it to handle more categories of goods, including serving Box.co.uk, which offers 150,000 product lines on its websites.

Whistl Fulfilment also announced it has hired a new commercial director, Mark Elwood, a former DK and Fedex employee.

Whistl created its fulfilment arm from Prism DM, which it acquired in 2017. The business has also recently acquired Parce

Lieneke Happel, Managing Director of Whistl Fulfilment, said the business was “firing on all cylinders.”

“[The company has been] growing existing and winning customers; investing in the business so we can expand the range of services we can offer; bringing in new talent to take us forward as a key driver of the future growth of our parent company, Whistl.

“We have an amazing team in Farnborough and Rushton and we look forward to an equally exciting and ambitious second year.”

Whistl recently won a major victory when Ofcom fined Royal Mail £50 million for discriminating against it.

Royal Mail increased its prices for wholesale customers in 2014, meaning that those companies such as Whistl which wanted to compete with it in letter delivery in certain parts of the country would have to pay higher prices in those areas where it relied on Royal Mail.
