Two Yorkshire businessmen have taken their passion for real ale to the internet.

Mark Roberts and Chris France of Harrogate, North Yorkshire, have launched BeerHawk.co.uk, giving a choice of more than 200 beers to UK customers, with national mainland delivery free of charge on orders over £50.

Roberts and France left senior jobs at Laithwaites Wines and Proctor & Gamble to launch the new business, and say they have now put in place deals with breweries around the world with the aim of offering a market-leading choice of real ales and speciality beers.

“We love drinking great beers and guest ales in pubs, but were frustrated by how difficult it is to purchase these beers to drink at home,” said BeerHawk.co.uk director Mark Roberts. “The range available in supermarkets is poor, and the few existing websites that did try to stock better beer were either hideously difficult to use, or hit customers with a large delivery charge at checkout.”

BeerHawk.co.uk expects to create up to six new jobs in its first year and features on the website include a beer club offering unusual brews, along with gifts packs for beer lovers.

“In our corporate jobs the quality of the product, value for money and customer satisfaction was meticulously monitored every single day. We’re bringing that same focus and attention to detail, but adding the passion and enthusiasm of two blokes who have created their dream jobs,” said Chris France.
