What do UK consumers aged 18-24, also known sometimes as millennials, want when it comes to delivery?
Well, perhaps not surprisingly, they want it fast and they want it at their convenience, according to MetaPack who have produced an infographic (below) based on recent research.
This demographic has grown up in an always-on, permanently-connected world, and consequently that’s the way they expect everything around them should work. For example, 55% said free delivery is the things they value most and 33% said they have a need for speed. So it makes sense that 82% said they intend to use a same-day delivery service in the next 12 months. Perhaps demonstrating a generational fondness for tech, more than half fancy the idea of delivery by drone.
UK parcel deliveries are likely to cross the 1 billion mark by the end of 2015 and consumer attitudes are rapidly changing. Gone are the days when consumers were willing to wait weeks for a package to arrive, especially among the new generation of consumers. Today’s 18-24 year olds increasingly want same-day delivery and 82% are keen to try it over the next year.
One of the stand-out stats is that 40% said they would complain about poor delivery experiences on social media, which some might find surprisingly low and you only have to search Twitter to find some carriers being regularly slated by disappointed members of the public.
