AO World today said it expected to post sales growth of between 20% and 21% in the quarter to the end of September 2015, thanks to continuing growth in its UK business.

AO.com sales are currently growing by more than 30%, but overall growth is held back by the electrical goods company’s German business. There, Mark Higgins, chief financial officer said today, progress is “in line with plan”, adding: “AO World continues to be encouraged by the development of the business.”

The company has lately spent more money on its AO.com brand through TV and other media advertising, and it is now introducing TV campaigns in the German market.

The update came as the company hosted a capital markets day at its Bolton headquarters and Crewe national distribution centre.
