DPD has launched a new app that enables customers to set their own personal delivery preferences in a move that it says gives shoppers “complete control” over their parcel delivery.
Shoppers can use the Your DPD app to mark the times of day when they are not at home, such as the school run, while setting preferences for what should happen to a parcel if it arrives when they are out – from taking the parcel to a nearby DPD PickUp parcel shop for collection, or leaving it in a designated safe place.
The app uses geo-location technology in what’s being billed as an “industry-first” that can alert the DPD driver when an app user returns home, allowing them to return to attempt delivery again. At the same time, the app user is sent a notification to say that the driver is on their way.
DPD says that in developing the app it worked with home shoppers who had received more than 10,000 parcels from the UK’s biggest retailers in the last year in order to fine tune its features and usability. It can be downloaded now
Your DPD was developed in conjunction with some of the biggest online shoppers in the UK. DPD worked with home shoppers who, in total, had received over 10,000 parcels in the last year from the UK’s biggest retail brands, to fine tune the features and usability of the app. The Your DPD app is available for customers to download now for free from both Apple and Android app stores.
The app is the latest innovation from a parcel company that was the first to deliver seven days a week, and which introduced the Follow My Parcel services, enabling tracking of deliveries, and later added night-before early warning of when their parcel would arrive, enabling shoppers to change where it would be delivered.
