Amazon expands Amazon Key to all in the US but doesn’t extend in-home delivery

Amazon has announced the expansion of its Amazon Key service to all customers in the US allowing keyless entry, remote lock and unlock and guest service. However the company’s in-home delivery option – available through Amazon Key for Prime members – remains limited to the 37 cities it originally launched in last November.

The Amazon Key home delivery service allows delivery drivers to access a customer’s home when the customer is out through a verification and authentication process with the ability for customers to view a delivery live via a video link.

The extension of Amazon Key includes a broader lock selection from lock makers Kwikset and Yale as well as exit video clips during guest access. The company has currently reduced the prices of its Amazon Key Home Kit with services of over $100.

Amazon Key in-home delivery is available at no extra cost for Prime members and works with same-day, two-day, and standard shipping. Customers simply choose in-home as a delivery option on checkout.
