Asda is to launch its second UK click and collect tower parcel vending machine in Bristol as part of a multi-million pound revamp of the store there.
The company will launch the Cleveron tower at the store near Cribbs Causeway in Bristol. The parcel towers, which are used extensively in the US by Asda’s Walmart parent, were initially introduced in the UK at Asda’s Trafford centre store in Manchester in January last year. The towers allow shoppers to pick up their online orders for both Asda as well as third-party partners such as Asos and Decathlon, in less than 60 seconds. Customers can also use the tower to return products.
To use them customers simply scan a barcode sent to their smartphone to receive the order. In Manchester more than 1,500 customers used the collection tower in its first week of installation.
The £8.2 million Bristol store revamp will also include smart mirrors to help shoppers decide on their outfits, a concept café with table service and a premium menu and a takeaway hot pizza service.
