Furniture brand The Cotswold Company will train new delivery drivers in an academy featuring a full size stairway and three interchangeable room sets, to ensure products arrive in a “considered manner.”
The CHD Training Academy, located in Lichfield, Staffordshire, will feature a bedroom, living room and kitchen model to simulate real-life delivery scenarios. The site will enable drivers to practice situations they might face when delivering furniture items.
“We know that ordering new furniture for the home can become a stressful experience for customers,” said Ralph Tucker, chief executive officer at The Cotswold Company.
“At The Cotswold Company, we want to take the stress out of deliveries and, through our investments in the CHD Training Academy, are empowering our delivery drivers to tackle all delivery scenarios and ensure a customer’s new purchase arrives in the room of their choice in a careful and considered manner.”
Furthermore, the furniture retailer is set to open its second UK delivery depot in Swindon later this month. It will employ 21 people and add 10 new vans to its fleet, as The Cotswold Company prepares for peak.
“By investing in how our teams deliver and expanding our reach with our second depot in Swindon, we have a really strong platform to support our future growth and ensure The Cotswold Company becomes one of the UK’s leading premium homeware brands,” added Tucker.
The furniture company, a Top500 retailer in the tenth RetailX UK Top500 report, has worked for some time to transform into not only a multichannel retailer but a lifestyle brand. In 2021, it replatformed as business moves further online.
