OHS (Online Home Shop Limited) has opened a new 327,000 sq ft fulfilment centre in Trafford Park, Manchester to support the company’s continued growth and strengthen its operational capacity. The centre will help OHS enhance stock management, improve distribution efficiency, and better serve customers as demand continues to grow significantly.
OHS says the site will allow it to ship six million orders this year, providing significant job opportunities to grow the current headcount from 200 people to over 300.
Rapid growth
The family-owned company has experienced rapid growth, driven by its website, which expanded its customer base and increased repeat purchases. Last year it reported gross sales of £61 million, a year-on-year increase of 28% – significantly outpacing the wider ecommerce market. Discount homeware has proved more resilient than many other sectors amid current retail headwinds, as customers continue to invest in their homes but seek to do so at a lower price point.
OHS has grown its core business in home textiles and expanded into new product categories, including garden, furniture, soft furnishings, and clothing. It has also made significant investments in the infrastructure and leadership of the business.
