Morrisons is expanding its partnership with rapid grocery delivery platform Snappy Shopper as it looks to grow its convenience and quick commerce reach across England and Wales.
The latest rollout will see hundreds more Morrisons Daily stores join the platform, giving customers access to a full convenience range through the Snappy Shopper app, including everyday essentials, Morrisons Savers products, own-brand items and multibuy promotions. Orders over £35 qualify for free delivery.
Rapid partnership acceleration
The move builds on a pilot launched 12 months ago with just five Morrisons Daily stores. Following strong customer uptake, the retailer is now accelerating the rollout, with plans to reach 100 stores by the end of this year and 200 stores by the start of 2027. Longer term, the aim is for around 50% of the Morrisons Daily estate to be connected to the platform.
The partnership has already delivered promising results, achieving an average order value of £31, demonstrating clear consumer demand for fast access to local grocery shopping.
Deliveries will continue to be fulfilled by Nash, with JetGo remaining the preferred last-mile delivery partner.
More ways to shop locally
As part of the expansion, Morrisons Daily stores using Snappy Shopper’s technology will also be able to fulfil orders placed through Foodhub, extending the retailer’s digital reach and offering shoppers additional ways to order locally.
The rollout comes hot on the heels of Lidl overtaking Morrisons as the UK’s fifth-largest supermarket, and at a time when the UK’s grocers are investing heavily in convenience and quick commerce. Waitrose has announced a new ‘neighbourhood concept’ that bridges the gap between a full-scale supermarket and a corner shop, and Tesco has announced new partnerships with Uber Eats and Deliveroo to unlock rapid delivery for customers across the country.
Mike Callachan, CEO of Snappy Shopper, said: “The expansion reflects the strong performance of the partnership to date and our shared ambition to make fast, reliable grocery delivery available to even more customers.
“By combining Morrisons Daily’s trusted convenience offering with Snappy Shopper’s technology, we’re helping retailers grow online while providing shoppers with greater choice and convenience.”
Charlotte Exell, group online director at Morrisons, added: “We’re pleased to expand our Snappy Shopper partnership across our Morrisons Daily stores, making it even easier for customers to shop with us. This rollout gives households in England and Wales even more convenient ways to get fresh food and groceries from Morrisons delivered straight to their door.”
As supermarkets continue to expand the ways customers can access groceries on demand, the extension of Morrisons’ partnership with Snappy Shopper is not only about increasing delivery coverage but also strengthening the role of its convenience estate within its wider digital strategy. With rivals also investing heavily in rapid delivery and local fulfilment, the ability to offer fast, flexible and locally fulfilled orders is becoming an increasingly important battleground for winning grocery spend.
