We’re on a high in today’s InternetRetailing newsletter after the fourth annual Internet Retailing Expo broke all records. Attendance figures were 24% up on the same time last year. Find out more – and see the pictures – in today’s IRX story.

IRX 2014 was also the location for the launch of our new IRDX Top500 Footprint 2014. We reported from the launch on what the report is all about, and where it will go from here.

Despite the excitement we’ve also kept tabs over the last few days on the latest stories from the world of ecommerce and multichannel retailing. Today we report that online sales rose by 12.4% in February, with department stores seeing ecommerce sales up by a remarkable 22%, according to ONS figures.

We also report on Tui Travel figures showing that 40% of their winter holidays sold online this season, and on full-year results from Laura Ashley, where the emphasis is firmly on ecommerce.

Our guest comment today is from Philip Rooke of Spreadshirt, who considers whether retailers need to start accepting Bitcoins.
