Netherlands-based grocer Albert Heijn has expanded its home delivery service to eight new municipalities in Belgium.
The company said it would expand the coverage of the ah.be ecommerce offering to the Mechelen and Rupel regions of Flanders, bringing the total population coverage to 275,000 households.
The orders will be fulfilled from the Home Shop Center in Eindhoven.
The new municipal areas covered are Mechelen, Boom, Rumst, Schelle, Niel, Merksem, Hoboken and Antwerp-South.
Raf Van den Heuvel, GM of Albert Heijn in Belgium, said: “Today we have great news for our fans. They no longer have to wait for an Albert Heijn store to come close: we are happy to deliver to their home.
“Mechelen is a stronghold of ardent fans; we have known that for years. Mechelen and the Rupel region were very high on our list for home delivery. I am sure that today we are going to make a lot of people very happy.”
Albert Heijn launched its first delivery offering in Belgium in the Antwerp region earlier this year.
