Amazon launches in-garage deliveries for US Prime customers

DeliveryX

Amazon Prime customers in 50 US cities will be able to get parcels delivered into their garages through a collaboration between the marketplace and an electronics company.
The marketplace is now offering “In-Garage delivery” as a checkout option on the website.

The company has integrated its Key by Amazon service, which lets authorised delivery personnel enter customers’ homes, with Chamberlain Group (CGI)’s myQ smart home platform, which includes tools for remotely opening and closing a garage.

Rohit Shrivastava, GM of Key by Amazon, said: “We know it is important to keep innovating to make delivery as convenient as possible for customers, which is why we’re excited to now have Key for Garage available.

“Today, we are thrilled to open Key by Amazon to millions of Prime members who can now have their Amazon packages delivered securely to their garages. With this new option, members can truly unlock the convenience of the Amazon experience.”

Jeff Meredith, CGI COO, said: “A recent survey found 72% of Americans who live in a house or town home take extra measures to ensure delivery acceptance of their packages, including staying home from work to wait for the package.

“With Key by Amazon, homeowners no longer have to reorganise their life to receive packages. Key plus myQ smart garage access gives homeowners control over the package delivery process while offering a safe and convenient destination for unattended package delivery.”
