Amazon taps Panther to offer next-day delivery on large items

DeliveryX

Amazon has chosen Panther Warehousing as a delivery partner for its UK furniture delivery service.
The Heavy and Large delivery programme, launched last summer, offers faster delivery on bulky items such as sofas and beds.

Using Panther, Amazon can offer nominated and next-day delivery, as well as delivery to a room of choice.

The process includes texts or emails the day before and on the day of delivery informing customers which two-hour slot it will arrive in. Crews also phone ahead to alert the next customer of their imminent arrival before departing from a job.

Colin McCarthy, Panther’s CEO said: “No-one wants to wait in for days to take delivery of a sofa or bed so we aim to make delivery process as painless as possible, with two-hour windows advised the day before delivery and total transparency for both Amazon and its customers about the progress of deliveries.

“Amazon customers have come to expect seamless delivery for smaller parcels and they will expect nothing less for larger items – that is what we will provide.”

Panther is one of several specialist carriers used by Amazon to fulfil larger orders, which it offers nationwide. Other companies using Panther for deliveries include MattressNextDay and electrical retailer RGB.
