Appliances retailer AO and home furnishings store Dunelm have both signed leases for warehouse space in northern England.
AO has taken on 113,000 square feet of warehouse and office space in Crewe in the north-west county of Cheshire. The site also accommodates 20 HGV spaces and 126 parking spaces.
It is located on Weston Road near to Junctions 16 and 17 of the M6 motorway, which runs from Rugby to Scotland.
The warehouse was designed by AEW Architects and completed by Caddick in 2018.
Matt Pochin, director at Legat Owen, which advised on the agreement, said the development of the logistics space had been speculative, based on a latent demand for logistics space in Crewe. He claimed demand had intensified due to current market conditions.
Meanwhile, Dunelm has extended a lease in Halifax, Yorkshire, for a further eight years.
The site measures in at 16,394 square feet, with a mezzanine sales area of 13,500 square foot.
It is located at Halifax Retail Park on Pelton lane, near the M62. Screwfix, Poundstretcher and Carpetright are also occupiers on the site.
Richard Wright, Partner at CPP commented: “A pleasing result in a sector which has been facing considerable turmoil in recent years, we had good levels of interest, which shows that providing the fundamentals are sound, there is still investor appetite in the sector.
“Dunelm posted exceptionally strong trading results for the first quarter of 2020, which evidently assisted with the disposal.”
