In today’s InternetRetailing newsletter we report as retailers and delivery companies make the final preparations for Black Friday – which has now become the de facto official start of the Christmas shopping season. That’s not to say that all retailers are approaching the task equally. Some, such as Amazon, Tesco and eBay, already have their extended Black Friday discounting well underway. Others, such as Jigsaw, are holding out against what many retailers now see as an unprofitable event and many customers now see as a marketing gimmick.
Today’s guest comment, from eBay’s Rob Bassett, analyses possible approaches to Black Friday and Christmas peak shopping,
Each retailer is adopting the strategy that best suits its approach to ecommerce and multichannel retailing. In today’s newsletter we report as Screwfix and B&Q owner Kingfisher Group, Lovehoney and AO World all share insights into their strategies – and what’s working or not working to drive traffic and sales.
Today we’re also looking further ahead to the next InternetRetailing Summit, which will focus on B2B online selling and will be held in Berlin in January.
