Argos routes vehicles via multi-channel orders

Argos is beefing up its home delivery capabilities, linking multi-channel order processing to real-time vehicle routing as it attempts to offer customers improved delivery slot selection at the point of order.
The scheduling and routing IT system from Paragon HDS will underpin an initiative the retailer is calling ‘More Choice Available Faster’, which is being implemented across its network of 734 stores. As new orders are placed, Argos will be able to automatically update vehicle schedules, offering more flexible delivery slots and haulage efficiencies.

Taking into account delivery areas, available resources and existing deliveries already confirmed, the system will analyse and evaluate possible delivery times for new orders within the customer’s requested timeframe.

By planning customer collection and home delivery service in the same system, Argos will maximise the efficiency of their operation and offer a consistent, reliable service to their customers.
