Two-man delivery specialist ArrowXL has been hit by a major fire at its Worcester hub, which handles deliveries for Midlands and the south west.
The fire, which started early on Thursday morning, was declared as a ‘major incident’ by emergency services with the 200,000 sq ft building evacuated and all staff accounted for as being safe and well. Around 150 to 200 staff are based at the hub at any one time.
The Worcester hub has been operating since 1994 and is one of four hubs and 17 satellite bases owned by the company. ArrowXL operates 230 delivery vehicles on the road six days a week and delivers 14,000 products to more than 7,000 homes every day. The company specialises in large, fragile, and bulky items up to 120kg, which are delivered by the two-man delivery teams into the customer’s home and into their room.
The company recently announced the appointment of Charlie Shiels as chief operating officer. Shiels was previously at DPDGroup UK, where he was executive director of central operations.
