Boohoo.com is launching its first m-commerce app this weekend.
The app is built on the Poq app commerce platform for iOS, and features boohoo’s full product range. The launch comes in recognition of research that shows the young shoppers Boohoo is targeting currently spend an average of three hours a day on their mobile, and that 40% are already buying at least once a month using the device. Currently, smartphones drive half of all traffic to the Boohoo website.
“Though boohoo’s mobile website is flourishing, posting a remarkable conversion rate increase of 40% in Q1 of 2015, studies have repeatedly shown that fashion retail apps drive conversion rates that are twice as high as retail mobile websites,” said Poq in a statement.
“In fact, apps now account for a third of all UK retail spend, although only 10% of retailers offer one. In light of these consumer trends, adding a shopping app to its offering was an obvious next step for boohoo.”
