Boots has been named among thousands of firms that have been struck by a major cyber attack.
The widespread attack, which is expected to spread to the US, targeted payroll provider Zellis which serves nearly half of FTSE 100 companies.

As a result, the health and beauty retailer’s parent company Walgreens Boots Alliance revealed the attack had included some of its employees’ details.
“Our provider assured us that immediate steps were taken to disable the server,” Boots said.
According to The Telegraph, the stolen data includes names, addresses and national insurance numbers of some of the company’s 50,000 employees in Britain.
The news comes as Boots owner recently unveiled plans to cut its corporate workforce by 10% in a bid to streamline operations.
