Boots and Mothercare have agreed to form a strategic partnership to supply a new children’s clothing and accessories brand to be sold exclusively through Boots stores in the UK and Ireland.
The move could be the start of a larger push by Boots towards offering other pure play and multi-channel retailers a way to leverage the retailer’s network of 2,600 stores.
IMRG reports that Tim Stacey, Boots’ UK director of multichannel, is looking at a number of possibilities. “There are a lot of retailers with great offers, particularly in sectors such as fashion, which don’t have a good reach,” he says. “We have over 2,600 stores and can reach many of the small towns where other retailers don’t have a presence. And it could also be another route to market for pure-play retailers who don’t have a store network.”
