B&Q has launched a new click and collect service for customers who order products from third-party marketplace sellers at diy.com, allowing customers to collect such goods from their local stores the day after they’ve ordered. The company claims this is a first for a UK marketplace.

The service will run initially as a pilot at the company’s Fareham store before a wider, phased rollout across 300 B&Q stores. Customers of B&Q’s marketplace can choose from more than 2 million home improvement and garden products from more than 2,000 third-party sellers on the platform.

B&Q already offers a return-to-store service for customers at diy.com, which allows them to return purchases from third-party sellers at B&Q stores.

Strong conversion instore

Virginia Wakefield, ecommerce director at B&Q, said: “It’s great to be launching this new service and to be extending our in-store collection services to customers buying from B&Q’s third-party marketplace sellers at diy.com. Around 90% of our customers begin their shopping experience on the web, and we’re seeing strong conversion of digital customers into store footfall as a result.”

“Marketplace click and collect will give our customers even more convenience by further seamlessly integrating the online and in-store shopping experience. Our third-party sellers benefit too by being able to offer their customers more delivery options and access to customers who prefer to pick up their orders in store.”

Diy.com customers will see the click and collect option available for selected products from third-party sellers when shopping online. Once they’ve completed their purchase they can then choose their preferred B&Q store location for collection. They will receive a notification once their order is ready for collection.

Since its launch in March 2022, B&Q’s marketplace has seen strong growth, accounting for nearly half (45%) of B&Q’s ecommerce sales in Q1 2025/26. Ecommerce sales increased by 17% year-on-year across 2024/25, representing 15% of B&Q’s total sales.
