Online shoppers will soon be able to pick up their internet orders from ByBox locker banks in eight shopping centres including the Metrocentre in Gatehead and Lakeside, Thurrock.
The news that ByBox is opening myByBox.com locker banks in Capital Shopping Centres (CSC) sites represents significant expansion for the company and is part of a £2m investment in new sites that was announced earlier this year. So far ByBox has 400 sites in locations from railway stations to supermarkets and petrol stations.
Stuart Miller, chief executive and co-founder of ByBox, says the news represents a ‘turning point’ for the company.
“We are delighted to add so many of CSC’s high profile shopping centres to our locker portfolio in a move that will not only allow us to further expand our service offering to customers across the UK but also take us to the consumer,” he said.
“We recognise that each and every one of our customers wants to collect their parcels with minimal impact on their life. By having such a high-profile presence enables us to further enhance our service offering which we believe is already at the forefront of modern-day deliveries.”
The first of the eight locker banks is already in operation at The Potteries in Stoke-on-Trent, and seven more will open at sites including Lakeside in Thurrock, Metrocentre in Gateshead, Braehead in Renfrewshire, The Glades in Bromley, Eldon Square in Newcastle and The Harlequin in Watford in coming months.
Trevor Pereira, commercial director of Capital Shopping Centres, said: “We’re committed to finding new ways of making our shoppers’ lives easier. By adopting ideas where digital retailing and traditional bricks and mortar retailing complement each other, we are ensuring that our shoppers have the best of both worlds.”
