Co-op is nearing a “full and complete recovery” following the recent cyber attack, with the convenience retailer’s CEO thanking colleagues, suppliers and members for their support during the “highly sophisticated attack”.
Shirine Khoury-Haq stressed that lessons will be learnt from the incident and there is on-going work in the background to limit disruption. She stressed the systems are now stable with food stores having more products on the shelves.
“Teams across our Co-op have worked day and night to recover – and our technology and information security colleagues are true superheroes,” she said in a statement.
“What they have done for us, our partners, our peers, our members and our customers in the face of a sustained and highly sophisticated attack was nothing short of heroic.
“Most of our recovery work from now on will be behind the scenes, so a big heartfelt thank you in advance to our support teams and our partners for your continued effort and focus.”
The update comes as The North Face and Cartier admit to data breaches in similar attacks. While M&S has warned that disruption to its ecommerce offerings could continue into July as it recovers. M&S stressed it is tackling the cyber attack “head on” with a “deep sense of responsibility”.
Since the cyber attack, M&S’ online clothing sales have been heavily impacted as the retailer made “the necessary decision” to pause online shopping. M&S stressed its stores have remained resilient. The retailer admitted that online disruption was likely to continue throughout June and into July.
