CollectPlus has taken its parcel delivery and collection service to a shopping centre for the first time. Shoppers at Meadowhall Shopping Centre in Sheffield can now collect online purchases and drop off returns and other parcels at the centre’s customer service desk.

CollectPlus chief executive Mark Lewis says the move takes parcel delivery closer to where consumers want to be. This, he said, was “an excellent example of our focus on providing our customers with the most convenient ways possible to drop off and collect their parcels.”

He added: “For Meadowhall’s busy shoppers and retail staff this means an end to wasted Saturdays or lunchtime queuing at out of town Royal Mail depots to return parcels and, instead, a greater focus on choice and convenience that, importantly, can fit better into their everyday lives.”

Darren Pearce, centre director at Meadowhall Shopping Centre, said: “Meadowhall prides itself on being at the forefront of the latest developments and changes in the retail industry. We expect to see a number of shoppers and staff take advantage of the CollectPlus service , which will be the first of its kind in a shopping centre.”

Some 25m shoppers visit the British Land and London & Stamford-owned Meadowhall centre every year. It is now one of 4,700 CollectPlus store and petrol station parcel delivery points in a network. CollectPlus says its network is within a mile of 85% of people living in UK towns.
