Community Clothing pop-ups in London for Christmas

Community Clothing, the fashion social enterprise set up by The Great British Sewing Bee judge Patrick Grant, is setting up a pop-up in homeware store Pentreath & Hall, Rugby Street London, this Christmas.

As with previous pop-ups, this latest residency will focus on the brand’s “knitwear heroes” including lambswool jumpers, hats, gloves, scarves and socks. Described as “the best type of Christmas stocking”.

“Being online-only means people can’t feel how great our clothes are. This gives them a chance to do that. It also gives us a chance to meet loads of our brilliant customers and tell the story to lots of new ones,” explained Grant.

“The shop is small, so we always stock the things people like most, and at this time of year, that’s jumpers, knitted accessories and socks.

“In terms of location, I’m friends with Ben (Pentreath) and Bridie (Hall), and their interiors store on Rugby St is one of my favourite shops in London. For years now they’ve been lending us their lovely little pop-up space in the run-up to Christmas. It’s a tiny shop so it can, on occasion, get a bit rammed, but we love it.”

The pop-up, hosted just off Lambs Conduit Street, opens tomorrow [Tuesday 5 December] through to Saturday 09 December, between 11am-6pm. And again Tuesday 12 – Friday 15 December.

Community Clothing aims to produce quality everyday clothing at a fraction of the price of other premium brands, by making 100% of it in the UK – “sustaining and creating jobs while helping to restore local economic prosperity and pride”.

It has previously hosted pop-ups in the likes of Selfridges (which chose Community Clothing to be part of their Material World project under the banner ‘Buying Better, Inspiring Change’, in 2017), as well as Liberty and Topshop. Additional pop-up have been hosted during the Festival of Making (pictured) and the British Textile Biennial.
