Cross border e-delivery tops agenda at Luxembourg’s Deliver One Conference

DeliveryX

Luxembourg plays host to an important gathering this September – the Deliver One conference – or ‘the first European rendezvous for e-logistics’. Over 300 decision-makers from leading e-retailers, 100 delivery suppliers and start-ups, 30 venture capitalists and 20 e-commerce associations will attend on 7th and 8th September, to share knowledge, and debate the issues around cross-border parcel delivery. At the event’s core is a drive for transparency and ease of cross border e-delivery – very much in line with the vision of European trade freedom that the EU is so well-positioned to pursue.
Looking beyond Europe, global cross border trade will also be explored and debated, assures founder and organiser of Deliver One, Stéphane Tomczak (pictured below). “We have delegates flying in from China, the USA, India, Russia, Kenya and Canada, which demonstrates the extent to which global cross-border e-commerce is of interest around the world,” he said. “The whole event has been designed to raise the profile of e-logistics, which is currently undervalued on the global business stage, compared to the likes of the marketing and IT sectors.” World-leading names in ecommerce will be at the event, including Amazon, Ebay, L’Oréal, Adidas and Net à Porter. UK retailers including Argos, Debenhams and Dixons Carphone are planning to attend – no doubt interested to learn how the UK fits into the European commercial landscape, in the wake of the UK’s decision to leave the EU.

Stephane TomczakSpotlight on innovation in e-delivery

“While cross border delivery and fulfilment is at the heart of Deliver One, the conference has a wider remit as an information exchange. Our aim is to reveal and celebrate the latest evolutions and innovations in ecommerce and edelivery,” Tomczak told eDelivery.net. “With the latest drone and robot technology being demonstrated, and workshop studios and opportunities to network, this will be a really valuable forum for ecommerce and logistics professionals to connect, share knowledge and generate ideas.”

There’s comprehensive representation at by postal services, carriers and logistics software providers at the Deliver One conference. Names signed up include DHL, Temando, DPD, French operator Colis Privé, supply chain standards organisation GS1 Europe and packaging distribution giant Raja.

New logistics database launch: Deliver in Europe

Co-funded by the European Commission, this event recognises the primary role that e-delivery plays in the supply chain in an age where digital shoppers are demanding goods from further afield yet expect super fast deliver. To meet this demand, the European Commission is co-financing a new free tool for European SMEs – an online platform known as Deliver in Europe which will be launched during Deliver One. The platform has been developed to make it easy for e-retailers to find the most suited e-logistics operators for their needs – whether delivery, fulfillment or supply chain technology. It will be free for logistics and courier companies across Europe to register and list themselves on the database, and free for all retail companies to access. “This is a database that is not restricted to EU countries,” says Tomczak “but is available to companies in the UK, Norway, Sweden, Iceland, Turkey to be listed on and to access alongside EU countries. We’ve already found that many UK companies are interested in being listed here. .

Keeping it green at the Deliver One conference

Tomczak says Deliver One is “ecologically conceived”, which means the event will be 100% carbon neutral thanks to an investment into a 500 ha forest preservation project in Amazonian Peru. Delegates won’t be weighted down with brochures and hand-outs – this will be a paperless affair, and what’s more the organisers will plant trees “to make sure that our footprint is only a positive one”.

Deliver One takes place on 7th and 8th September, 2016 in Luxembourg.
