Currys serves up London rapid delivery trial

Currys is launching a rapid delivery trial to ensure customers can get products in as little as 30 minutes.
The company is partnering with Uber for a pilot which launches on 15 November, and will initially be rolled out to 15 Currys stores across London with a view to extending across the UK.

The trial will focus on delivering from a range of 1,800 small technology items, such as chargers, print cartridges, headphones and laptops which are under 7kg and meet set dimensions to fit in the courier’s bag.

The pilot will run for three months and will cover 12 London boroughs, including the City of Westminster. Eligible customers order online or via the Currys app and opt for same-day delivery at checkout. They can order up to two hours before the store closes with delivery in as little as 30 minutes.

The new venture is Uber’s biggest UK relationship to date. For Currys, it adds another option to its range of services, which include its ShopLive 24/7 video shopping service and its one-hour order and collect in store service.

Mark Allsop, chief operating officer at Currys, said: “The world has shifted to a hybrid way of working and more customers are demanding greater convenience and speedier delivery to get their hands on tech. This new ‘from store to door’ delivery pilot with Uber is the next step in our exciting omnichannel journey.”
