DB Schenker and Magento launch fulfilment solution for smaller merchants

DeliveryX

German logistics operator DB Schenker has partnered with Magento to launch a new ecommerce fulfilment solution.
Called the Warehouse Manager, the extension will allow small and mid-sized merchants to connect their Magento web shops with the warehousing and fulfilment services offered by DB Schenker.

The solution consists of a standardised interface which can be introduced automatically into a standard Magento setup. It provides management over all warehousing activities including pick and pack, as well as delivery status updates along the entire supply chain.

Merchants can access the free module through the Magento Marketplace, although it requires first having an account directly with DB Schenker.

According to DB Schenker, the solution aims to service the growing customer demand for the ability to track orders from web stores. The firm, which has 8 million square metres of warehouse space, operates across Europe, the Americas and the Middle East.

A report by Sorted in September found that 80% of shoppers want retailers to offer live visibility of orders but 20% of retailers.

The research found that 80% of shoppers want retailers to offer live visibility of their order but 20% of retailers still didn’t offer real-time order tracking.

More than a third (35%) said that live tracking updates would improve their customer experience during shipping. A fifth (21%) said that not having regular updates on their parcel’s delivery progress could prompt them to shop elsewhere.
