Leading UK high street retailer Debenhams has made the move into mobile based in-store kiosks. Branded Debenhams Extra, the Internet enabled touch screen kiosks will be rolled out across the UK, and give customers access to the retailer’s full product range while in store.

Having designed and unveiled mobile apps for the retailer across the 3 major platforms – iOS, Nokia and Android – together with Debenhams’ Beauty Club iPhone app earlier this year, mobile commerce experts NN4M, were tasked with developing the in store kiosks to further increase the retailers’ points of engagement with its customers.

Drawing upon the company’s expertise in developing the latest in mobile retail technology, and vast experience in the retail sector, NN4M designed and built the range of in store kiosk applications, to create an engaging experience and functional service in store.

“The in store kiosks are really fantastic, offering a mobile experience in store, while bringing customer service into the digital age – people are now able to find out about the entire product range from within the store, use the barcode scanner for further product details or to order clothes in different colours or sizes, and ultimately make purchases as and when they wish from whichever touch point they choose,” explains Lorraine Howard, Director at NN4M. “

Following the success of the fully transactional Debenhams mobile applications developed by NN4M, the retailer plans to make the in store kiosk application fully transactional in the coming months to further ensure Debenhams’ customers will be able to shop with the leading UK retailer as and when they wish, across multiple platforms.
